Staffordshire Case Studies
Local Authorities have a key role to play in conserving biodiversity in areas such as; developing local policies & strategies, planning & development, management of estates, procurement and education.
The Natural Environment and Rural Communities Act 2006 (NERC) created a duty for every public authority to conserve biodiversity. It aims to raise the profile and visibility of biodiversity and make it a natural and integral part of policy and decision making thus lying at the heart of service delivery for local authorities.
